March Society Day

The March Society day, the first of the Summer season, was held at Eaton Golf Club, a privately run course down below Chester. It is actually convinently situated next to the Crocky Trail, an adventure land for children and those of young at heart. One suspects that following the round of golf some of our members perhaps thought they'd have been better off going there than around the course.

The day started off sunny and cold due to the wind, but by the time we had got a few holes under our belts, the wind died down and the conditions were lovely. Eaton is a well maintained course, and the course a bit challenging.

Some of the Knockout Competition matches were played today, with results as follows;-

a) Graham Almond & Ian Taylor over came the late challenge from Dave Evans and Ian Grierson,

b) Dave Worron & Graham Coupe beat Paul & Tony Anderson on the 18th hole, and

c) Steve Crayford beat Alan Bennett 3&2

Remember, your matches need to be played by the dates listed elsewhere on the web site (see competitions page)_

The competition was our normal Individual Stapleford Competition. This was a relatively high scoring day, with every one taking settling in to their new Handicaps. The overall results were as follows;-

1st   James Arathoon   40 points

2nd  Ian Taylor     37 points

3rd   Tom Roger  35 points

4th   Ralph, Graham C, Dave W, & Tony, all on 35 points

(too many to worjk out the countback)

In the side comps;-

The Longest Drive was driven by Phil "ka boom" Wright (with an absolute monster of a hit)

and

The nearest Nearest-the-Pin ball was positioned by Graham "Ha Ha" Coupe who got closer that James "Wot a F!!kin shot" Arathoon.

The Random Card draw was won by Dave Worron,

No one got a '2' so that rolls over.
