To view photos from the Antrobus Society Day click here The sixth Society Day of 2008 Summer Season saw 15 members venture eastwards to visit the Antrobus Golf Course. A bit of a drive but it was well worth it. The course was very nice, well maintained and one of those challenging but playable courses which you would probably play better the next time round when you knew it a bit better. There were plenty of ducks, so that meant plenty of water whose water level was raised slightly by the end of the day as a result of the balls being washed (by mistake). I can also personally state that there is a lot of bunkers strategically placed just where my ball wanted to land, despite the plans I informed it if just before I hit it. The chances are that we will return to the course, mainly because we've got a load of 2-4-1 vouchers which would make it very good value. Highest Stapleford score was Dave Evans (yes I'll repeat that again Dave Evans - yes the Dave Evans we all know and love - yes its is true - well done partner) with 34 points closely followed by Neil McNay (runner up two Society days on the trot) on 31 points who was a close head ahead of Ralph Vaughan and Tom Rogers on 30 points. Generally all members are thinking of throwing in the towel - being beaten is one thing, but being beaten into submission by Dave Evans is quite another thing. Other (much less notable) results for the Day
The
and The nearest Nearest-the-Pin ball was positioned by James "Pin High" Arathoon who out spotted Mal "Sig" Seger. Random Card draw was won by our very own Gary Cooper following a draw by some one, no doubt a very lovely young lady from behind the bar, or some one else that Peter accosted The Two's was'nt won by anyone so is carried forward to next month.
