19th July 2008 Kings & Queens Day

On the 19th July Moreton Hills saw its finest Golf Tournamnet of the Year, namely the Moreton Grange Queens & Kings Day, which brought together those persons who believe they can play golf, and the Barmaids from the Grange Public House, who in some cases can play golf, and in other cases definitely have'nt quite mastered the art of golf just yet.

God knows why we turned out, given the weather at the start of the Day, indeed at one stage, Rose thought she'd be the only Queen present. Luckily, for Ralp anyway, the others turned up just a little late, and in some cases their choice of wet weather gear left a little to be desired.

There followed 2 circuits of the course, one with the Kings driving and approaching the green with the Queens putting out, and then a second circuit with the Queens in the driving seat and approaching the green then the Kings putting out (a very unusal situation in some cases).

If has to be said that, in some cases at least, the Queens did put us old boys to shame. Affy's Nearest the Pin on the Par 3 4th was a shot that the Kings would love to have been able to do, and the fact that Sue actually went round in less total shots than her partner Tom is something that she will remember forever, and something that we'll not let Tom forget. And it was all that Ralph could do to stop Charlotte making a day out of it with her bucket and spade in the bunkers, maybe a case of "its in the sand - somwhere".

The pairs gross scores for the day were as follows.

Tom/Sue 71   Winners

Graham C/Affy 77  Runners Up

Alan/Viky 89

Dave E/Rose 94

Gordon/Danny 96

Pete/Patsy 100

Dave C/Suzy 148 ???????

No card for Ralph and his partner so one can only assume it was bad?

All in all a very good day out, after which the Teams retired to the Grange for a couple of scoops and then to Rose & Ralphs for a barbecue not to be forgotten, until such time that is as the photos are released from the Developers having been cleared by !!!!!!! Squad.
