July Society Match Day

The fourth Society Day of 2008 Summer Season  saw 20 members venture yet again far south exceedingly early to renew our aquaintance with the Hawkstone Park Golf Course. The main reason for returning was that we had negoatiated a good package deal as recompense from the lack of service on the last visit, but when all is said and done it is a very nice course.

There were no problems this time with the service from the club, and once the mist had been burnt off the day was hot and good golf weather. Several players were involved in Knockout Tournamnet  matches and most of these were very close.

Opinions seemed to be varied on the food, however it was hot, edible and good - and who can say no to crumble.

Highest Stapleford score Ralph Vaughan with 35 points closely followed by Mal Segar on 33 points who was a count back ahead of Dave O'Rorke. In total, 13 of the 20 members scored 30 points or more so things were very close at the top.

Other results for the Day

The Longest Drive was driven by James "Boooooooom!" Arathoon who drove 19 yards past Ralph "no comment"Vaughan who drove past Peter "no comment" Ainsworth, and

The nearest Nearest-the-Pin ball was positioned yet again by James “Ha Ha Ha 3ft less" Arathoon who was closer than Nigel "No comment" Hall who was closer than Dave "No comment" Evans (yes Dave did get onto the green in one - i saw it with my own eyes) who was closer than Graham "No comment" Almond, and

Random Card draw was won by our very own Tom "He's the Captain" Rogers following a draw by a very lovely young lady from behind the bar

The Two's was'nt won as Andy Harveys joy at getting a 2 was later null and voided by Nigel Halls later 2;- pity that as Andy had already spent his winnings at the butty shop by the 9th hole, never mind, I O U's don't have a shelf life.

The Longest Drive was driven by Nigel “F!!kinGet In” Hall,

ahead of Neil “man of few words (or broken pencil)” McNay and

The nearest Nearest-the-Pin ball was positioned by James “Woohoooo!” Arathonn

Random Card draw Steve Dickinson
