The January Society day, the first of the 2012 season, was held at the regular venue of Pryors Hayes Golf Club. As the day dawned with a icy blast 12 members drove across Cheshire to return to a course played many times before.
The weather was generally ok, well it was cold but it was'nt raining and the sun did try to show itself but failed miserably. The course was'nt in bad nick, though the 18 temporary greens did rather take the shine off the full enjoyment.

The main competition of the Day was the Golden Nugget competition, which this year took the form of a Yellow Ball team format which brought out the competitor in all of us. Most teams managed to keep their balls, whereas the remaining teams did'nt really lose them, after all they know where they are - just difficult to get at.
The results were as follows
Team A 35 points in total
Ralph Vaughan, Mal Segar & Dave Worron
Team B 33 points up to the 15th
Graham Almond, Carl Hayhurst & Lee Hollywood
Team C 36 points up to the 17th
Peter Smyth, Graham Coupe & Alan Bennett
Team D 28 points in total
Tom Rogers, Ian Taylor & Gordon Evans
As well as the main competition there was an individual stableford competition, which saw some very impressive scoring.
The results were as follows;-
1st Lee Hollywood 41 points
2nd Tom Rogers 38 points
3rd Ralph Vaughan 37 points
on a count back from
3rd Mal Segar 37 points
In order to protect Ralph's reputation Ian kindly declined to attend the society day thus being unable to continue his impressive form and perhaps have beaten Ralph yet again,
